Inktober Challenge 2021

I don’t know what I just did

This year I had no real focus. I normally have a theme for the Inktober Challenge. This year I did it all in grey Copic Markers and pens. That’s really the only consistency in the Inktober Challenge 2021. Maybe next year I’ll have a theme prepared as I have other years. While I did have a lot of fun using Copic Markers for the whole month, I’m not going to lie. Without a set goal and theme, I was fighting to make sense of the prompts.

It wasn’t all bad

A lot the drawings for this year were a long long stretch to match the prompt. Others were too much on the head of the nail. Like day 5, “Raven” I drew a raven. Wow, I was really digging deep on that one (SMH). Day 28 was one that I liked a lot. “Crispy” reminds me of a trail in Mount Dora called Extra Crispy. So what did I draw? A wooden berm from that trail. I really just like how it came out.

It was in day 27 that I started adding a bit of sephia to my drawings. I like how everything popped out for that last week. Please don’t ask me about Day 1, “Crystal.” I don’t like the composition on that one. Day 26, “Connect” was popular on my Instagram feed. I think that mentioning Lego blocks is high in the algorithm criteria. Days 30 (“Slither”) and 31 (“Risk”) are two more that I liked drawing a lot. The snake is more of my style while the honeycombs behind the bee were challenging to not make any mistakes.

Would I do it again?

A series of drawings in markers? YES! Another Inktober Challenge without a theme or objective? Absolutely not. That was so much more stressful than I expected. I’m glad that Inktober Challenge 2021 is over and I can’t wait for the prompt for Inktober Challenge 2022.
