Inktober Challenge 2020

What a Year!

With a lot of time inside the house with the whole family, every day, all of the time. Sending the kids back to school is a bit of a relief. However, the Inktober Challenge 2020 is bringing back the monochromatic pen and ink of previous years. The theme for this year is very 2020. Everyday life. As we spent a lot more time inside and away from other people, I found beauty in the mundane or the small details.

Inktober Challenge 2020 is All in the Details

This year I took a closer look at everyday events and what I do in the house. From binge watching TV, cooking, playing music, and taking care of the pets. 2020 also allowed a lot of people to go outside and play alone. It’s not too much of a divergence from how I spend my outdoor life, but I noticed a lot more people doing what I enjoy on a daily basis. Fishing, hiking, paddling, and wandering. If you want to read more about each drawing from the Inktober Challenge 2020, scroll through my Instagram Profile. There I have captions for each of the 31 pen and ink drawings from this year. And a few other things that I’ve shared.

Was It Good For You?

Since March we’ve all slowed down a bit. The family and I would end our days sitting on the front porch reading, drawing on the sidewalk, and playing music. All while neighbors were walking with their kids or as couples. It was nice to slow down a bit. This also gave me the time to slow things down in my art. I’m very happy with this year’s Inktober Challenge. I took my time and looked at the little details. This is by-far, my favorite pieces that I’ve done in this challenge.
